this is such a tempting hobby to pick up this winter. How much does a decent model go for these days?

This was a pretty low quality kit that I got for $20. My next project is a much better quality 1/48 F-105 and was around $60. I built this while I was at my parents house and I had my old airbrush and a bunch of other tools, and my dad has a HUGE workshop that he builds wooden ship models in. But if you don't have that you can probably get the basic tools/paint for around $30-$50, and if you want stuff like an airbrush it will start getting into the $100's.

Well worth it though, it's a very relaxing hobby. Some tasks can be a bit tedious, but I've found that watching documentaries about the subject you're building on youtube is a fun way to help power through those.
